The deceased Magdalena Adamska is listed as having died 30 Nov 1923 on board the George Washington. The ship arrived at Ellis Island Dec. 6. 1923. The cemetery's burial record has a coffin size recorded so we believe her body was returned to Detroit. I am waiting for the death certificate to arrive. Would it have been filed in NY or MI- or both? Her Detroit burial is listed as Dec 12 , 1923. My questions include: Since earlier deaths on board resulted in burial at sea- including markings the Longitude and Latitude of burial- when did the at sea burials end and what type of morgue - or storage- was available for the deceased? How would the family have made arrangements to bring her body from NY to MI? Her adult son Jacob Adamski was traveling with her. Thanks for any advice!
