    3. This is a lot more recent than most people's searches, but I'm looking for what ever information I can get on passenger lists, etc for a ship called St. Ariquani (I believe that's the correct spelling). It was a converted troop carrier that was used to bring passengers from England to Canada after WWII. My father was a Canadian soldier and married my mom in England. I have a note that says they landed in Montreal on Aug 26th, 1945 on the above ship. The only info I've been able to find online is a mention that a ship by the same name arrived in Gibralter on Nov 3, 1941. I've checked on the ship based sites that I've got but found nothing that current. Any ideas? Mike Guest London, ON

    3. Hello Mike, This was Elders & Fyffes passenger and banana ship ARIGUANI. She was an aircraft catapult ship during the war used for convoy escort work and was torpedoed and badly damaged in 1941. Abandoned but later reboarded and towed to Gibraltar for repair. Photo at http://iancoombe.tripod.com/id14.html She is listed on the Canadian war brides site at http://www.canadianwarbrides.com/ships-list.asp Sorry but I have no info on passenger lists. regards Ted ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Guest" <m.guest@sympatico.ca> To: <TheShipsList-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, April 30, 2006 1:51 AM Subject: [TSL] Ship ARIQUANI - England to Montreal, 1945 > This is a lot more recent than most people's searches, but I'm looking for > > what ever information I can get on passenger lists, etc for a ship called > St. > > Ariquani (I believe that's the correct spelling). > > > > It was a converted troop carrier that was used to bring passengers > > from England to Canada after WWII. 3. Mike The Times of Aug 20, 1945 lists the Ariguani sailing on Aug 17 from Liverpool. Unfortunately, there is no other mention of the sailing. Regards..
