Hi Joseph, Checking with google, this looks like it might me interesting (they only show the first page) http://www.jstor.org/pss/1877351 The "Ancona" Affair: A Case of Preventive Diplomacy Gerald H. Davis The Journal of Modern History, Vol. 38, No. 3 (Sep., 1966), pp. 267-277 (article consists of 11 pages) Published by: The University of Chicago Press By just simply typing ANCONA 1915 Google also returns a webpage with a 'partial' list of survivors dated Nov. 12th which muses that people or the New York Times must have lost interest in the story, however, another webpage with a New York Times article dated Nov. 13th suggests some possible censorship. It was wartime, so that of course was a possibility. As the vessel was sunk, there won't be a surviving passenger list, but there should be list(s) of passengers, surviving and lost, in newspaper reports. You might need to peruse New York Times past mid November to find one and of course Italian and Sicilian newspapers, but I don't know which. If your grandmother was returning to the US, you might also consider a newspaper near her place of residence . . . local papers are often a good source for that sort of information.
