Hello, Just wanted to remind people that over 100,000 children from the United Kingdom were "shipped to Canada" from the 1860's through the 1930's. There are several data bases for the "British Home Children" (aka "Home Children, Canada"). One of the data bases is here: http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/genealogie/022-908.009-e.html http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/home-children/index-e.html On this page, you can search by "surname" only or "ship name" only, etc. So, there is a chance that people on this List can find mention of a ship in this data base which you might be interested in: http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/home-children/001015-100.01-e.php Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA) FYI: There is a "British Home Children" List and it has existed since 2000, and it is an active List. Many people on that List have tried to find ways to "spread the word." It seems many people in Canada have never heard the words, "home children." And, probably 8 million people in the U.S. are descended from them. This summer we are discussing how to get a "National Holiday" in Canada created - to honor the over 100,000 "little immigrants" who arrived in that country. We may have arrived on different ships but we're all in the same boat now. :o) (thinking genealogy) (possibly first said by Martin Luther King, Jr.)
