G'Day, Can anyone assist me with information about a ship called the EMPEROR that sailed from England, to Sydney, Australia in 1851. Cheers, Mike
From the London Times shipping news but it looks like more than one ship by this name: Jan 23, 1851: "Vessels Spoken With. The Emperor, from London, Dec 29." Mar 19, 1851: "The Emperor, from Manilla, has arrived at Queenstown; sailed October." Mar 29, 1851: "Arrivals in Table Bay, Cape of Good Hope.--the Emperor, Feb 4, from London" June 16, 1851: "China Ship News. Hongkong, April 24. Departures to Great Britain.--from Woosung, March 17, Emperor of China, to London." July 29, 1851: " Bombay. Arrivals. June 12.--The Emperor, from Liverpool 10th of February." Sept 16, 1851: "Liverpool, September 15. The Emperor, from Babis for Hamburgh, has arrived off Aberdeen." Oct 18, 1851: "Liverpool, October 17. The Emperor, from Bombay, arrived here yesterday, leaky, having been ashore on Little Burbo."
