I am looking for information about a WW2 ship the "Sea Ray" that transported Australian troops in the SWPA during WW2. There seemed to have been a series of "Sea" type ships at the time. Any help would be appreciated. Regards, Dave
Hello Dave, SEA RAY 8,353 gross ton cargo ship, 469ft x 69.6ft, built 1944 by Western Pipe & Steel Co, San Francisco for the U.S. War Shipping Administration, San Francisco. Completed as a troop transport with accommodation for 2,158 troops. 1946 laid up in the James River. 1947 sold to Matson Navigation Co, San Francisco renamed HAWAIIAN RANCHER. 1972 scrapped at Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
