Wondering if anyone could help me break down my brick wall. John WHITTAKER or WHITAKER born 1827 in Oulton, Leeds, Yorkshire England, married widow Emma Smalley nee Lee in 1852 in Yorkshire, England. They had a daughter Anne Whittaker in Yorkshire England in 1854, then off he went to India. John died in India either 1857, 1858 or possibly even into the 1860s. Family legend states he was murdered by his servant during an uprising, so I interpret that to mean he died in the Indian Mutiny of 1857, also called the Sepoy Rebellion. Can anyone help with finding him on any passenger lists between England and India? Thanks, Marina Ontario, Canada
