The Mother had died in Martinque 1715, and 3-5 years later, the father, John (Jean) CHAUMETTE came to america with his 3 sons, names of: John (jean), Samuel and Daniel. Here the surname changes spelling. Orginal is French. Now is SHUMATE/SHORMAKE/SHUMATE ( so far). The Father settle then in Elk Run, Staford CO. VA, where he died in 1722.
