Hi List, Can anyone tell me where records are kept if someone died at sea? A passenger on the INDUS in 1853 travelling to London from Ceylon. Also are there any surviving log books for passenger ships or surgeons records? kind regards Valerie
Hi Valerie, This was before the Suez Canal opened and the Indus was on the Southampton to Alexandria route. Passengers would disembark at Alexandria and travel overland to Suez where they would join another ship to continue their voyage to Ceylon. regards Ted ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul and Valerie" <pandvarich@tiscali.co.uk> To: "THE SHIPS LIST" <THESHIPSLIST@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 14, 2010 5:04 PM Subject: [TSL] DEATH AT SEA - "INDUS" > > Hi List, > > Can anyone tell me where records are kept if someone died at sea?
