Hi Pennye, Afraid you have been misinformed. The German Empire was a small passenger / cargo ship which sailed for the West Hartlepool Steam Navigation Co between Hamburg and West Hartlepool. Passengers would have disembarked at West Hartlepool and taken a train to Liverpool where they would board a transatlantic liner. See http://www.theshipslist.com/ships/lines/hartlepool.htm and http://www.theshipslist.com/ships/lines/transmigration.html regards Ted ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pennye Scheiber" <pennyes@comcast.net> To: <THESHIPSLIST@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, October 15, 2010 8:26 PM Subject: [TSL] German Empire > > Hi, > Someone stated that this ship never sailed to the U.S. but my Great > Grandmother, Juliana Mikolajewska, age 34, departed July 29, 1892 > from Hamburg.
