Hi Ships List folks, I am searching for my Grandfathers arrival from England in 1890, at age 18yrs. He was born William Sculthorpe, went by his mothers maiden name" "William EAST", not sure when in life he changed his name, so may be listed under either. >From history books and family history , he came on a ship with aload of horses and looked after them on the ship and then in MN, where he lived until coming to SASK in 1907, He may have been married to a lady by the name of Elizabeth /Lizzie when coming to USA the first time in 1890.Or they may have married in MN. She was from Scotland, her histroy is sketchy at best. For wahtever reason teh marriage ended and he married Carrie M Mulholland in 1906 in MN. If anyone could find the ship he came on and any other information , I would be most appreciative. thank you so much Carol
List, does anybody know where I can find a picture of the Ship Cultivator that sailed in 1856? I have a request for one and I have no idea where to get it. Thank you, Ines

Hello, Thanks to all of the people who responded to my query about the SS Beltana c1924. Thanks to Ted Finch for the picture site. It came as a bit of a surprise to me to see the two Beltanas as I worked in the second one as an AB in 1959. Regards Wallace
Thanks Sue, unfortunately I got a message that the video cannot be streamed to places outside Canada. *new* for TheShipsList website http://www.theshipslist.com/ All the new and updated files and databases have been placed on their own page(s) Find them on the front page in between the big arrows --------------> <--------------- At the bottom of each of these pages I have placed links named " previous month " and " next month " so you are able to navigate back and forth between the monthly *new & updated* pages, as I only keep three months of *new* page links on the Home page. New for June 2010 is . . . o Passengers: o barque Wilhelmine, from Bremen, to Port Adelaide 1st October 1855 o ship Peter Goddefroy, from Hamburg, to Port Adelaide 18th November 1855 o ... o John Molson - 8th trip up, Quebec to Montreal, 16th June 1832 o John Molson - 9th trip up, Quebec to Montreal, 20th June 1832 . . more than 620 passengers Two more German passenger lists to South Australia for 1855. We have a few holes with some on the WILHELMINE, because it sailed from Bremen, so any family input would be great. The PETER GODDEFROY is much more complete, but with a little confusion about which passengers stayed in Adelaide and which passengers continued to Melbourne. Two more JOHN MOLSON steamboat passenger lists for 1832. I am particularly liking to transcribe these lists because the compiler was quite literate with mostly reasonable hand-writing and because of the huge numbers of passengers (new settlers) on most of the trips. On trip 8 and trip 9, there are large groups who received Emigration Society tickets and those groups seem to be more clearly recorded. A huge bonus with these two lists is that on trip 8, one group has this in the remarks ... Isaac Waters, Captain of the brig Preston ? to pay ... (the ? is mine as the vessel name is not totally clear) and, on trip 9 there is a really large group with this in the remarks ... Captain Smith to pay. I find that very exciting, because when we get the 1832 Quebec newspapers (coming soon) we will be able to learn the port from which these passenger sailed. With no archived passenger lists at Quebec until 1865, this is the next best thing to finding the passenger list for the Quebec arrival. Please share this *new* for TheShipsList website email, with any other list to which you belong if you think it might be of interest or value to those list members (in other words, on-topic). Enjoy Sue -- TheShipsList Website http://www.theshipslist.com/
Good morning, I am wondering if somebody can help me. I am trying to find information on the SS America that sailed from New York to Bremen in February 1958. I am helping somebody else find information on a passenger on the voyage. She is not quite sure of the exact date, must have been around February 1958. Does anybody know where I can get a passenger list for this ship? Ancestry only goes to 1957. The person I am helping is trying to find her grandfather. Her grandmother was on the ship and had a ship board romance and a child was the result. This child was born in November, which would put the sailing to January/February. Thanks you all, Ines
I am away until July 25th, but will be checking my email periodocally. Please understand if I don't get back to you right away. Mike.
Slight correction to what Ted said about the photos. I'm sure it's just a typo and he meant to say #4 and #6 are of a later ship - which looks to be the BELTANA of 1937 for Australian owners. Equally, for completeness, the 1912 BELTANA was completed and would enter service in May 1912. Wallace You do not say when in 1924 but from the London Times shipping news comes this: Feb 28 London for Sydney March 1 - "Psd. Prawle Pt. 29th for Sydney." March 24 - "Left Table B. 22nd for Fremantle." On Jan 22, 1912 the Times states that the Beltana was just being built but she was sailing later that year on the Sydney run. Regards.. Hi listers, I am trying to locate some basic history on the Northland Navigation company, and it's vessels, that operated out of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Rich
Dear colleagues, we are pleased to announce a new website concerning the emigration from Northwestern Germany to the US: www.german-immigrants.com --- Emigration from Northwestern Germany: Emslanders & Bentheimers in the New World. In the 19th century, more than 20,000 people emigrated from the region Emsland / Grafschaft (county) Bentheim, situated in the Northwestern part of Germany, to the United States of America. In the beginning, a close contact between the “Old” and the “New World” was established, mostly by writing letters. Over the years and decades, the relationship broke more and more. The website www.german-immigrants.com would like to revive this connection and will provide data and tools to enable interested people on both sides of the “salt-water curtain” doing research and taking up contact again or for the first time. A free-of-charge database with records on currently more than 15,000 German immigrants is the centerpiece of this website. --- Comments and additonal data are always welcome. Please feel free to forward this message to other interested people, too. Kind regards Martin Koers -- german-immigrants.com is a project of Heureka - the Historian's Office!
