    1. British Prince
    2. If anyone has access to the passenger list for the British Prince I sure would appreciate a lookup. I am looking for Ole Andreassen who left Liverpool, England on April 5, 1887 and went to New York arriving about April 15, 1887. He was from Norway and was going to Fountain, Minnesota. He was 30 years old and by himself.

    3. Hi Stephen, The OLDHAM was a North Sea passenger ferry owned by the Manchester, Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway Co.which became the Great Central Railway in 1897. Built in 1888 she sailed between Hamburg and Grimsby where passengers would take a train, usually to Liverpool to board a transatlantic liner. Sold to Greece in 1913 and renamed ELEFTHERIA, 1928 renamed SAMOS, 1941 war loss. regards Ted ----- Original Message ----- From: <nj55turtle@comcast.net> To: <TheShipsList-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, April 30, 2006 9:40 PM Subject: [TSL] SS Oldham out of Hamburg??? > I'm looking for a Moses Pickhol(T)z sailing on the SS Oldham out of > Hamburg. 1. Passenger lists London, Southampton or Liverpool > Buenos Aires (1915) and back (1921/2)
    2. Caroline Holder
    3. My request for help is for websites: there are plenty to search for US/Canadian/Italian migration, but little that I can find about people travelling to and from Buenos Aires during WWI and just after. I don't have names, unfortunately, but please don't give up on me yet, this is my reasoning: I've read a wonderful book about growing up in Patagonia (Mollie Robertson: The Sand, the Wind & the Sierras, Days in Patagonia, published 1964), and my project for the last 6 months has been to try to find out more about her. Robertson is her married name, she never wrote another book, and can't possibly be alive, unless she's well over 100. The book gives very few clues, except that her father was already working in Patagonia when she and her mother travelled alone by ship to Buenos Aires ("just when submarines were becoming a very real danger", she says) perhaps therefore in 1915? About 7 years later they returned also by ship, this time with father too. Among many other lines of research, one has been about finding passenger lists for ships around those two periods, so Ships List, Royal Mail Line, BiSA etc have all been really interesting - except that names of ships don't help unless I can find out when they travelled. The arrival passenger lists would be easier, I thought, because the departure ones (both ends) would contain loads of names of people who got off along the way. Is there such a thing? I believe ships to BA departed from London, Southampton or Liverpool. Or if I could find lists of ships departing the port of Buenos Aires in 1921 & 1922. They weren't immigrants, just passengers, which I know makes it more difficult. Have I set myself an impossible task? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Caroline Holder Bristol

    2. Shirley Ackley
    3. My name is Shirley (Wolff) Ackley. I am searching for info on my Wolff family, specifically my great grand father, Joachim Charles Christoph Wolff (in Germany the name was spelled Wulff) who was born in Germany April 06, 1831 and he immigrated to America on April 29th, 1853. He lived in Chicago (a few years), worked and got married in Chicago, IL area, Bensonville, DuPage County. What I am trying to find is more info on his trip to America, the ship (info, pictures, etc), any other family members who may have traveled with him, where he entered America at, his journey to Chicago and possibly a more definite location on his marriage to Anna Katherine Louise Landmeier. Then I will be ready to start researching more of his family in Germany (I do have some names, but not much more to work with). Thank you. Shirley (Wolff) Ackley Dodge City, KS

    2. Ann Lackey
    3. Is it true that no ship names or lists exist for the 1790's from Ireland? Patrick *TODD* and Jane Carmichael supposedly emigrated from Belfast in 1798, but I have no proof. Their daughter Janet Todd McCall was born in Ireland in 1795 and the family was included on the 1800 Laurens, SC census. Some say they came in by Pennsylvania, but I am inclined to believe they came via Charleston, SC. Earlier Todds came through Charleston. The Todd DNA project is "going great guns" right now. I have searched Olive Tree and other links. Thanks for any directions you can offer. Ann

    2. Jim Cullen
    3. Hi Sue, I was looking through your great web sit - well done - and ran across an entry for the ship Legatus which sailed from London April 1833 and arrived June 1833 at Saint John, N. B. I was curious about the Teesdale family that was on board in that they are listed as: "did not embark". I assume this means they stayed on the ship for the next destination or so. Is there a way to tell where the Legatus' next stops were? Was hoping to check the passenger list there to see if more than the first initial of the Teesdale names were listed. 3. I have been lucky enough to obtain my Grand mothers memoirs re her trip Southampton to Panama leaving October 1913. However these bring up a number of queries. The memoirs also cover the trip from Panama to Talara in Peru. 1. Is there a passenger list available as she mentions other passengers by profession rather than name, eg the Danish Ambassador to the West Indies. 2. The ports she mentions leaving Southampton were Cherbourg, Barbados, Port of Spain (took on coal, Cartagena, Colombo then Colon in Panama. Can anyone help me where Colombo is between Cherbourg in Columbia Colon in Panama. Also has anyone any information on the monastery at Cartagena, it is supposedly situated on a high cliff overlooking the ocean. My Grand Father had made the same journey in June 1913. Did the Oruba leave Southampton in June for Panama Regards Keith Foster
