Pat If you just type Mount Pelee in the subject line, you will get some info on it. Apparently, there were only two surviors. Didn't mention anyone else. As Lorine says, those records aren't indexed yet, but we might be able to help narrow the number of microfilms to read. Do you know which port they may have arrived . . did they arrive _before_ a certain date? There were some ships which stopped at Liverpool - Belfast to Canada, but later in the year. Most sailed Liverpool & Glasgow - Londonderry, to Halifax, St. John and Quebec (Quebec was the *summer* port* . .first 1906 arrival in late April). Canada destined passengers also arrived via US ports, like New York and Boston . . from Liverpool - Londonderry ; Glasgow - Londonderry ; Liverpool - Queenstown. What does the 1906 Prairie census say ? That after archiving of lists began in Canada so there's some hope... Funnily enough, I just posted this identical message earlier today. The National Archives of Canada (NAC) holds immigration records from 1865 to 1935. Unfortunately the records before 1925 are not indexed. To find a passenger you will need to know an exact date of arrival. There is no easy way to search Canadian arrival records for this unindexed period other than reading microfilm Ships are on the reel, in order of arrival. You can find the details at this URL http://www.archives.ca/02/020202_e.html If you want to order filmed passenger lists (remember they aren't indexed!), a list of NAC microfilm numbers for passenger lists to Canada 1865-1922 can be found at http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/filmnos_can1865.shtml If you want to try your luck searching transcribed ships passenger lists online, passenger lists for Ships to Canada after 1865 are freely available at http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/tocanp05.shtml You can also try TheShipsList.com at http://www.theshipslist.com/ They have been indexing arrivals from Newspapers and have many passenger lists online There are search engines to search online free databases on multiple websites for ships to Canada at http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/search_shipscanada.shtml The Ontario Archives has just put a new database online - an index to the assisted immigration registers created by the Toronto Emigrant Office between 1865 and 1883. The registers are a chronological listing of those new immigrants who were assisted by the government to travel to many different destinations across southern Ontario. Over 29,000 entries have been transcribed from the registers. http://www.archives.gov.on.ca/english/db/hawke.htm Good luck! -- Lorine McGinnis Schulze * Olive Tree Genealogy (Ships Passenger Lists) http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ * Naturalization Records http://naturalizationrecords.com/ * Images of Ships Lists http://www.rootsweb.com/~ote/ships/ otg@csolve.net or olivetreegenealogy@gmail.com
Hi Listers; Thanks for all your help in the past. Is there an Index of "Germans to Canada" available? I wondered if it may be similar to Glazier & Philby's "Germans to America"? I am searching for Friederich Edward Schneider b. about 1820 and his wife Henrietta Drews Schneider b. about 1824 who emigrated from area of Strelkau, Lippusch and Berent, Prussia we believe about 1882 to 1885. Family members included Albertine Carolina b. 1844, Henrietta Friedereke b. 1846, Ferdinand Albert b. 1848, Wilhelmina Caroline b. 1849, Emilie Friedereke b. 1851, John Frederick b. 1854, August Herman b. 1862, and Rudolph Alexander b. 1863. The family lived in Detroit, MI (Edward, Henrietta and Rudolph et al 1886 to 1894, later) and Port Huron, MI (August and family 1888 to 1900, later). Firstborn Albertine Carolina Schneider born 1844 married Carl Hochleitner and had a child in Port Huron, MI in 1874. Carl Hochleitner arrived July 12, 1869, on board ship Smidt at New York from Bremen. Albertine (Schneider nor Hochleitner) was not on board this 1869 arrival. My extensive searches in Germans to America, and Steve Morse at ports up the Atlantic coast have turned up nothing solid, other than solid frustration. The family could have arrived in Canada and then traveled west by train to cross the St. Clair River at Port Huron, or at Sarnia to Detroit. I appreciate your advice very much....... Thanking you all in advance, Ernie

Please can anyone tell me how to find ships and passenger lists for ships that sailed from Ireland to Manitoba Canada after April 1910. Thank you Anne Uk
Looking for RM ship Durango R.Weedon
Thanks to all for the great information about this sailing of the Olympic. It was just last week [April 23] that I asked Sue for information on this sailing off list. I am researching the war brides of WW1 and am currently reading "Lone Cone" by Dorothy Abraham. It is great to have the extra information. What a coincidence! Annette

An account of the career of the SS City of San Francisco can be found on the web pages of The Maritime Heritage Project at _http://www.maritimeheritage.org/ships/ss.html_ (http://www.maritimeheritage.org/ships/ss.html) She was wrecked on May 16, 1877, off the Tartar Shoal, near Acapulco, Mexico. There is also the possibility that the holdings at NARA's Pacific Region (San Francisco) may have a reference to the City of San Francisco in their collection of Wreck Reports. Send an email to _sanbruno.archives@nara.gov_ (mailto:sanbruno.archives@nara.gov) . and provide the particulars including your contact information. The wreck reports for the California coast cover the years from 1874 through 1935. These form reports often include the date of the incident; the nationality, name, tonnage, and age of the vessel; port of registry; official number; name and residence of master and owner; port of departure and date; where bound; number of passengers and crew; names of persons lost; estimated value of cargo and vessel; estimated loss and damage; amount of insurance; nature of casualty and location (not precise coordinates). Each volume is indexed alphabetically and covers a certain span of years. Because of the location of the wreck of the City of San Francisco the casualty may not be mentioned in these reports, but on the other hand I have seen reports involving ship wrecks as far from the California coast as Australia so one never knows unless they try. There is also a ship wreck database on the web pages of the California State Land Commission concerning Pacific Coast maritime casualties that is searchable online at _http://shipwrecks.slc.ca.gov/ShipwrecksDatabase/Shipwrecks_Database.asp_ (http://shipwrecks.slc.ca.gov/ShipwrecksDatabase/Shipwrecks_Database.asp) Hope the above information will help. Hi, I sent the following message to you a few weeks ago. Since then, I have found the name of the ship. However, the lists that I've looked at do not list the name that I've read about and I cannot find it online. Perhaps you can help find this. I'm looking for direct evidence of their passage and a quote from the ship's list, if possible, for these people. I read that the name of the ship was the "Sailboat", and it arrived Baltimore 18 June 1827. The passengers should include Robert Morrey/Morry and Joseph and Isabella Bradfield and their children, at least Sarah Bradfield. I found the following quote: "Passenger Arrivals at Port of Baltimore 1820-1834" R Morry. Before June 30, 1827 came to US on Sailboat met Bradfields of Yorkshire on board (also listed) went to Toronto, Georgetown, Washington DC Landed 18 June 1827." Robert Morrey was from Lancashire, Eng., and the Bradfields were from Yorkshire, Eng. I would love to see a picture of the ship, if possible. Thank you, Sandy Morrey smorrey@socal.rr.com Earlier message: My documentation says that Robert Morrey (or Morry) met his wife on board the ship (name unknown). He was born in 1792 (best guess, age 35) or 1795 (age 32) or 1797 (age 30) (documentation very fuzzy about this). Robert probably was traveling alone, but surely Robert and Sarah were on the same ship, but having not yet met when they left England. Later wife was Sarah Bradfield, born 1789 (age 38) or 1805 (age 22--best guess), traveling with parents Joseph Bradfield (born 1777, Eng.) and Isabella Watt Bradfield (born 1775, Eng.). Most documentation says the ship landed 18 June 1827, other documentation suggests 1828. I would like to know the name of this ship, and if a picture is available, that would be very nice. Sorry, but I cannot be very clear on the birthdates or ages of my ancestors (many conflicting bits of documentation).
