It is the suggestion for outbound passengers searches that I would like to get. Besides passport information that is. 1. [TSL] Thomas Thomas - need some help
    2. I would greatly appreciate some help or suggestions locating the passenger list for when Thomas Thomas and wife, Catherine, and daughter named Catherine came to America. His brother, Edward Thomas, came according to the lists 1 October 1819 - Sept 1820, as a single man. It was said through the ages that Thomas came around 1821 but have not been to locate that record. There can possible another brother named Philip Thomas as well. I would truly appreciate some assistance or suggestions! -Lynn **************Looking for a car that's sporty, fun and fits in your budget? Read reviews on AOL Autos. 3. From the London Times shipping news but it looks like more than one ship by this name: Jan 23, 1851: "Vessels Spoken With. The Emperor, from London, Dec 29." Mar 19, 1851: "The Emperor, from Manilla, has arrived at Queenstown; sailed October." Mar 29, 1851: "Arrivals in Table Bay, Cape of Good Hope.--the Emperor, Feb 4, from London" June 16, 1851: "China Ship News. Hongkong, April 24. Departures to Great Britain.--from Woosung, March 17, Emperor of China, to London." July 29, 1851: " Bombay. Arrivals. June 12.--The Emperor, from Liverpool 10th of February." Sept 16, 1851: "Liverpool, September 15. The Emperor, from Babis for Hamburgh, has arrived off Aberdeen." Oct 18, 1851: "Liverpool, October 17. The Emperor, from Bombay, arrived here yesterday, leaky, having been ashore on Little Burbo." 3. Robin,   You could try shipping intelligence reports from NZ newspapers of the period.  The site www.pastpapers.natlib.govt.nz has some, and from a brief check, I can see the Moana sailing Melbourne to Wellington in 1900.  Otherwise Lloyds List might be your best bet.  There is a list of UK repositories on the Mariners-L website, and the Guildhall Library website has a useful guide on how to use the Index and Lists themselves. Coverage of other than limited years is available at a few UK sites including The National Library of Scotland. If he was a Master Mariner (Captain) or Mate his service record for these positions will be available in Lloyd's Captains' Registers; although Ist Officer is typically a position between 2nd Mate and Mate and therefore not covered.   Hope this helps.   Derek Hayward Dorset, UK   From: "Robin's wool" <[email protected]> Subject: [TSL] Union Steam Ship Co of New Zealand Can anyone help with access to records  from 1899 to 1930 for the Union Steam Ship Co of New Zealand? We have Alexander Forbes HIRD leaving Scotland around Sept 1899 to live in Sydney.  We know he was  at least "1st officer Merchant Service" by 1891 Census and it appears he was a ships officer with this shipping line out of Sydney from 1899 to 1906 as he appears over 100 times on the NSW ships lists. 3. I have watched the list and have seen several people wanting to know about records that might have been kept for people returning to different areas of Europe. The answer is more or less always the same - no outbound passenger listes were kept for the US unless the shipping line had the records. How accessable are the landing records for European ports? Are they online or are there places to write for the information for 1905 to about 1912? The person I am looking for was headed back to Kleschi and Gomel, Russia. This is now part of Belarus. 3. Hi Susan - You can go to the site for Canada passenger list and there you will find the Lake Erie listed. The address of the site is: www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/passenger/001045-130-e.html Click "search" on the left side of the page and then put in the name of the ship and the year. Scroll down and you will find the "Lake Erie" listed. You will have to scan the passenger lists as they are not indexed. I have found member of my Swedish family on this site. Naomi

    1. [TSL] England to Canada, 1860 to 1930's
    2. Betty
    3. Hello, Just wanted to remind people that over 100,000 children from the United Kingdom were "shipped to Canada" from the 1860's through the 1930's. There are several data bases for the "British Home Children" (aka "Home Children, Canada"). One of the data bases is here: http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/genealogie/022-908.009-e.html http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/home-children/index-e.html On this page, you can search by "surname" only or "ship name" only, etc. So, there is a chance that people on this List can find mention of a ship in this data base which you might be interested in: http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/home-children/001015-100.01-e.php Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA) FYI: There is a "British Home Children" List and it has existed since 2000, and it is an active List. Many people on that List have tried to find ways to "spread the word." It seems many people in Canada have never heard the words, "home children." And, probably 8 million people in the U.S. are descended from them. This summer we are discussing how to get a "National Holiday" in Canada created - to honor the over 100,000 "little immigrants" who arrived in that country. We may have arrived on different ships but we're all in the same boat now. :o) (thinking genealogy) (possibly first said by Martin Luther King, Jr.)

    2. Carmelo Palazzo
    3. Hi, I'm doing family history about our PALAZZO family. My grandfather noted on his Naturalizations Papers, which I have a copy, states that he arrived in the port of New York in the State of NY, on or about 10th day of May, in the year of 1891, He imigrated to the US of America, from Palermo, Italy on the vessel Andella. but I think it should be spelled (Entella). Using that data, I am not able to find any record at Castle Garden, which would have been the port in NYC where he would have landed and entered the USA. I have found a record for most of the other people who arrived at that port in those early 1891 + years. I read your email and was wondering if you have made any progress since 2003 when you wrote the request for info. Hope to hear from you. Carmelo Palazzo
