    2. Paul Theobald
    3. Dear THEOBALD list members, I've received the following message from RootsWeb explaining that they are closing down the mailing list. See below. There has been very little traffic on the THEOBALD list for several years and so although this is disappointing news it's unlikely to have a great impact on our THEOBALD studies. The mailing list archives will continue to be available on RootsWeb for reference. Best regards, Paul Theobald RootsWeb THEOBALD list owner ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: RootsWeb Administration <rwmailinglists@ancestry.com> Date: Tue, 7 Jan 2020 at 17:36 Subject: [ROOT-LO-ANNOUN] RootsWeb Mailing Lists To: <rootsweb-listowners-announcements@rootsweb.com> Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. 1. [THEOBALD] [EXTERNAL] RICHARDSON - THEOBALD Family Photographs
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" two old photographs of William Lambert RICHARDSON and Lena THEOBALD RICHARDSON. William's photograph was taken in New York City, NY and both appear to have been taken in the 1890's. William appears to be in his 20's at the time and Lena is likely in her teens or 20's when her photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following regarding the couple: William Lambert RICHARDSON was b. 4 Jun 1872 in Porter's Landing, ME to parents Charles W. RICHARDSON and Caroline "Clemie" ROGERS. William was one of three children born to this couple including, Edith M.; William Lambert; and Sarah A. RICHARDSON, all born between 1870 and 1873. William married Emma "Lena" Magdolina or Magdalen or Magalena or Magdolena THEOBALD (1880-1948) on 28 Jan 1904 in Ashtabula, OH and together they had one child. William died 26 Sept 1948 in Youngstown, OH and is buried in the Lake Park Cemetery in Youngtown, OH. Williams 1918 draft registration card indicates that he was living in Young, OH and working as a clerk at the Brianhill Steel Co. with Emma M. RICHARDSON noted as his next of kin. Emma Lena Magdolena THEOBALD was b. 8 Aug 1880 in Penn Station, PA to parents Joseph John THEOBALD (1850-1930) and Augustina Hermine THOMAS (1852-1938). Emma Lena was one of 8 children born to this couple including, Augusta Ernestine; Anna Louise; Emma "Lena" Magdolena; Joseph John; Henry; Thomas Oscar; Bertha Dorothea; and Albert Lewis THEOBOLD, all born between 1874 and 1894. Emma Lena died 3 Jan 1948 in Youngstown, OH and is buried in the Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown, OH. I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    3. Steffen, I don't have a Conrad in my tree but have some Theobald's from the places you mentioned. Matthias Theobald died 1719 in Herxheim am Berg and his wife, Maria Eva Schultz Theobald died 1736 in Landau. Their grandson Johann Adam died 1779 in Herxheimweyher as did his wife Maria Alysis Schillinger Theobald. Their son, Casmir, was born 1771 Eschbach and died 1837 Herxheimweyher. His wife Margarethe Eberle Theobald was born and died in the same places. Their son Friederich Adam Theobald was born 1800 in Herxheim Landau and died 1834 in Herxheimweyher. 2. Hello! I've given up to be speaker of the Theobald blog some years ago. For answering your question, there are two different origins of Theobald in Germany (see: https://www.ancestry.de/learn/learningcenters/namedist.aspx?name=Theobald ). A connection between the stronger Saarlouis branch and the formerly even strong Landau branch is not known up to now. Please contact someone living in or near Landau to follow that branch. My Great Grandfather was Lawrence William Burns b. 1854 in New York and moved to Iowa City when he was a boy. He was married twice. First wife was Mary Downey. They had three children. The oldest was a girl named "Nellie" or Ellen. Ellen married a Theobald. Lawrence's second wife was Mary McCune. They had 5 children. One of them was John Joseph Burns, who was my mother's Uncle. He lived in California for many years. According to my mother, when he got older he moved back to Iowa and lived with his half sisters, a couple of the Theobald girls. I have a little more information regarding the Burns side. Please contact me if you get this, we might be able to untangle this a bit. Dorothy lives in Long Melford and tends all the graves bless her! I didn't know there were two churches in Long Melford. The only one I have been to is at the top of a hill/slope before you reach Melford Hall. I really need to have another look when I next visit my mum as she lives in Long Melford. Its such a lovely village. I will be looking at the link to the Theobald list archives later today after work, and I knew about the builders but not looked at the website. which I will also do. Many thanks for your information! Afraid I cannot offer much in return! Debbie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Both Holy Trinity and St Catherine's are important in the Theobald history. If you look back through the Theobald list archives (http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/surname/t/theobald.html#THEOBALD) in September 2006 you'll find some correspondence I had with another cousin descending from Clement Jnr. She had a photo/newsclipping of Amos that I'll send on to you. Also I have a scanned copy of the first few pages of Clement Snr's family bible which I'm happy to share with you -- it's lovely to see his handwriting which gives a lot more personal feeling to our family history. I guess you also know of Clement Theobald builders (now Cubitt Theobald - www.cubitt.co.uk) in St Catherines Road, the company started by Clement Theobald back in 1903. He went on to have Amos, Amos had Ernest, Ernest had my grandmother etc etc. So we're direct descendants. Have you visited Clement Snr gravestone at all? Are you in Suffolk?
