    3. Dear Neal, That is a typical old sepia and I thank you so much. A lot of people wouldn't share the way you have......I am sure you are going to get a rather swelled scone from all, the praise and thank yous, ...........but well deserved.....a genealogists treasure hon, is the photos and anyone that is like you and sharing the way you have deserves the praise. Buttering you up....hell yes BUT YOU DESERVE the THANKS... Grateful doesn't even begin to describe it, especially researching from Australia, which is very hard at the best of times. And I have put this on the theatre list as a thank you too, because it is just so nice.....and because Dave Jassie deserves to hear the nice things that come from his list....... And thanks too for Wendi, who I just received an email from too.Wendi most genies are giving and sharing people and this has been exciting beyond belief, Thanks to all Sorry I havent responded sooner, we have had a bereavement. I have a little more info as well, but I'll follow that up in another mail because it might be relevant to Wendy as well. Hope you find this useful. -- Neal Dench // ndench@tinyworld.co.uk ----- Original Message ----- From: Pam Hillier To: Neal Dench Cc: THEATRE-UK-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, January 19, 2003 2:29 AM Subject: Re: clarice mayne Dear Neal, No, Neal thank you for sharing such wonderful treasures....photos are like gold to a genealogist. You have my undying gratitude (and I am not buttering you up) for any photos you have of Clarice, James Tate or Teddy knox. This is so exciting, I just wish mum was alive to appreciate it. Yes please send the photo through by all means.......with many many thanks. Jo was so helpful clarifying my childhood stories of Clarice and I am sure she will, or has contacted you too. I think it was from the original thread on Clarice Mayne that I discovered the list: I was searching for her name on Google and came across the list archives. Truth be told, I know very little about Clarice Mayne. About six months ago, I came across an old signed photo of a woman dressed as Dick Whittington. "Oh that's Clarice Mayne" said my Mum. "She was an old pal of your father's." (This is a phrase I get to hear a lot ... ) So consequently I have, scanned into my computer, a photo of Clarice Mayne that you are quite welcome to a copy of. It's in JPG format, and is 227 KB big, so I won't send it via email without you telling me it's OK first, since it's reasonably big. If you want me to make the image smaller, then that's fine (though it's a nice clear image as it is). I'll ask my mum if she knows any more about Clarice Mayne. I don't think she will have known her personally -- my Mum was a lot younger than my Dad, so consequently anything she knows about my Dad pre 40s that isn't already written down somewhere is through stories he has told her, however, she did recognise her straight away, so maybe she knows something. I'll also keep an eye out for her name in my Dad's information -- I'm sure it's there somewhere. Let me know about the photo. I hope that you don't mind me replying personally. There was a great deal of chatting on the list about 6 months ago in regards to Clarice Mayne. I am the family genealogist and managed to get in contact with two others researching the Dulley surname, who it turns out are genealogical cousins. Clarice Mayne is from our Dulley side.......you may actually get contacted by a Jo Dulley as well. I would be very surprised if you didn't....chuckle!!!! I too grew up with tales of Clarice and the theatre as did Jo. Jo is closer to Clarice Genealogically and I gained a lot of information from her. Clarice was married to James Tate and then Teddy Knox from the Crazy gang. I truly envy you all your memorabilia I would dearly love any information you have on any of these people. I am that excited by your email.......would you mind sharing some of your mums secrets with us???
