    1. [THEATRE-UK] CARLOS LAURIO ----1880 -----CHARLES LAURIE
    2. My great-uncle Charlie was born [Frederick William}Charles Laurie in Bengal India in 1880 to a Scottish family. But he sang opera under a more Italian sounding name---CARLOS LAURIO. Nothing is known of his career, but he had 2 children by a second wife, an Italian operatic singer. He or they may even have performed at La Scala. These 2 kids came unexpectedly to stay with my grandmother Kathleen Smith in Much Haddam ,north east of London. {Kathleen was Charlies sister] likely in the early 1920s. Their names possibly Roberto and Inez. Think the stay was brief. The kids would be now in their 90s Charlie last heard fom living in the east part of London in to at least the 1950s or 60s, I note there was an Opera House in Calcutta. Perhaps his early training was there, and then his years in Italy? Need any suggestions as to where I might research him or his kids. Just a final note. There are 2 very fine male voices from his line in our family ---and both have quite an attraction to the stage, but are keeping their `day jobs`. Any clues appreciated Kitty
