Hello, I'm currently reading a book about Richard Brinsley Sheridan (1751-1809) who wrote "School for Scandal" and bought the Drury Lane Theatre with partners in 1776. There is a reference to the fact that Sheridan and his partners bought the "patent" and I wondered what this was?? Regards Ken Grubb, Cheltenham, Glos.
