My great-great grandfather, James WILLIAMSON was an actor-comedian in the 1800's. His occupation was given as "Player" on his son's marriage registration 1871 and as "actor-comedian" on the 1881 census. The family was from the Ashton-under-Lyne area but James was a boarder in a household at Stoke-on-Trent in 1881. Any suggestions where to begin further research would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
