Hello all, To think I only joined this list yesterday and have already been given some wonderful new information on my connection with Clarice Maine. I also think there could be a connection with the Ward side of my family - Sarah Ward being my great-grandmother's maiden name. My grandfather, Harold also had the middle name of Ward so I guess this must have been important. He boxed at Blackfriar's as a young man under the name of Harold Ward too. Sarah married my great grandfather Richard and he was a Master grocer in Brixton. They lived at 16, Merredene Street in case anyone know where that is. I would dearly loved to learn more about Clarice and also would be interested to see if I can link in the Ward's as well, so if anyone has further information it would be gratefully received. I telephoned my local library about the book that Wendi mentioned and they are going to order a copy for me, I can't wait! Jo Redding
