Forwarded on behalf of Stephen and Joanne Redding [email protected] Hello Dave, I saw your message posted to the Berkshire site. My father remembers his father telling him that we had a family connection with the opera singer Claris Main (Not sure of the spelling). Have you heard of her and do you have any references to her? At this stage I have not found what the family link is. Jo Redding

She lived in Hampstead as a girl, and married James Tate, then Teddy Knox. She had a sister called Ethel, whon I believe remained unmarried. I have a picture of the marriage of Clarice Mayne to James Tate in 1913. Regards..........Wendi
Hi Wendi, It most certainly is!! My grandfather had said that we also had a connection with the "Crazy gang" and although my elder brother was always convinced it was Teddy Knox that held the key, again I could not find the link and I certainly had been looking at Clarice and Teddy and two separate links. I cannot imagine that my grandfather could have invented this story so I must believe it to be true. My maiden name was DULLEY and that has been the main area of research so far. Was Mayne her real name or stage? The only other angle I have at present that could explain the connection with my family is this. Teddy Knox had a sister whom I believe was also in a theatre act? Could she have married the writer Sax Rhomer? I know his real name was Arthur Henry WARD, my great-grandmother was also a WARD before marrying into the DULLEY'S. Thank you for your most knowledgeable reply, JO Redding -----Original Message----- From: John Lynch [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 13 June 2001 21:29 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [THEATRE-UK] Claris MAIN? ----- Original Message ----- From: Dave <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, June 13, 2001 7:13 PM Subject: [THEATRE-UK] Claris MAIN? > Forwarded on behalf of Stephen and Joanne Redding [email protected] > > Hello Dave, > > I saw your message posted to the Berkshire site.
