My greatgrandmother, Sarah Ann Clark (nee Howell(s) from Shrewsbury appeared at a variety of music hall theatres in London and the home counties under the name of Annie Delemont, between 1871 and about 1875. I have a number of her reviews from the Entracte and Era and from them it appears she had a remarkable voice. She did impersonations, including male ones and appeared in burlesque. She was also part of a quartette which included Misses Florence Powell, Lily Wilford and Sophie Burlette, which was very popular at the time. She left Shrewsbury and her first husband in about 1868 and I am anxious to discover what happened to her between then and her first reviews in London. Sometime during that time she also met my gt. grandfather and they married in 1871; however, in 1872 she was on trial for bigamy as she had never obtained a divorce from her first husband (although she said that she thought he had divorced her). If anyone else has any knowledge of this lady, or could suggest how I might find out where she might have appeared from 1868 to 1871, I would be most grateful. Pauline BC, Canada
