Died 29 Apr 1891, Wootton Bassett, Wilts.No occupation for father, but probably Comedian. and his brother 2. ROGERS, Henry Charles, b.c. 1815 Midhurst, Sussex, also comedian, annuitant and gentleman. 1. Tom "was born and bred a Comedian" according to his papers from Customs and Excise, but was somehow superannuated, and returned to his theatrical occupation. Had partner Ann Augusta YOUNG of FERMER/FERMOR, d. 21 Aug 1890 Wootton Bassett, Wilts, but I have not yet found a marriage record. This couple had chn all over the south of England. Apparently left the stage c. 1874 and became licencee of the Crown Hotel, High St., Wootton Bassett until his death in 1891. Children: Agnes b. ?, m. (1) Elizabeth Jane DANSEY, nee CLAVELL at Blandford, Dorset, 30 Apr 1840, then m. Priscilla FERRETT, had daughter Florence c. 1869. I have information about a James ROGERS comedian and a couple of William's but can't find a connection to mine. Did any of your Rogers mob (male or female) have a son called William around 1857/8??? Let me know if you would like the bits I have. This is my mob: I have a William ROGERS (2) born approx 1858 who told us (on his marriage certificate in Coventry 1886) that his father was William ROGERS (1) - occupation -Theatrical. The son of William ROGERS (2) was William ROGERS (3) born 1900 who told us(on his marriage certificate) that HIS father was a theatrical artist. Family history says there was a connection with Sadlers Wells. It also says the family came from London. Despite all my searching I have been unable to find William (2) on any census so am unable to find his place of birth or confirm his parents. William died in Coventry in 1902.
