    1. [THEATRE-UK] Acrobat & Actor
    2. Hi Everyone, I am trying to find some theatre records of my grandfather, Ernest LOCKWOOD, AKA Robert LOCKWOOD, Ernest L. ROSAIRE, and Robert ROSAIRE. He was born in St Pancras, Middlesex in Nov 1870. In the 1881 census he was at an uncle's house in Bromley, possibly as an apprentice House Builder. The next sign I find of him is in 1892 when he arrived in New York City with a troop of acrobats. The group was probably called "The Rosaires" or something similar, since all used the surname ROSAIRE. They seemed to have coupled this with their given name and the first initial of their true surname. Others in the group were: Gus E. (35), Fred H. (23), Will H. (19) and Thomas M. (19). He traveled back and forth between England and the United States until 1905 when he settled in the US He married Lillian V. (Lilly) JARVIS, an English girl who was also supposed to be connected to Show Business. He spent his whole life in Show Business, but I only know of two specifics. One is for April 1910 when he shared the stage somewhere in New York City with Joe E. Brown and the other is in April 1924 at the Powers Theatre in Chicago. Here he played the role of the donkey, Dapple in Otis Skinner's "Sancho Panza". I would love to hear from anyone with any knowledge of his career. Good hunting to all, Ron Migliore
