    3. Hello, I am really just checking I am in the right place. Been a bit busy and so briefly read the *blurb* for the list. If I am wrong, please forgive. Am I in the right place for playwrights? My great-uncle and his wife wrote plays (amongst other things). Sometimes my great-uncle actually acted small parts in his own plays, but he wasn't an actor. Is this list for playwrights or just actors? If someone can confirm, I'll post/unsub as necessary. Sorry to be so dim... Best Wishes, Sherry Landa (Salford, Lancs) [email protected]

    3. Hi Sherry, I think you may be in the ideal place. There's nothing dim about your question - after all, what would the actors do without playwrights. I believe we can safely include *all* performers and the backstage and supporting staff in our discussions. 3. Hi Dave, Thanks for your reply. Theatre implied anything and everything surrounding *the business* BUT you never know :-) My G-uncle was M J LANDA (1873-1947),a Jewish playwright. He was politically quite outspoken and wrote a great book called *The Jew in Drama* which he used to deal with "The Shylock Myth" (trying to breakdown Jewish stereotyping in the theatre). He and his wife (Annie Gertrude, nee GORDON, 1881-1941, AKA Aunt Naomi of Jewish World Children's pages) wrote plays mostly together and they were usually short one-act plays which were curtain raisers to the *main event* I have reviews from "Red Ria" a play performed as a curtain raiser to Shaw's Candida at the Gaiety in Manchester. I would like to get other reviews and build up a better picture of his life/work. I am finding it hard to know where to begin really. I got to Red Ria from something else (probably his obit). I need some pointers as to what to do, how to narrow a search down, what to look in etc. Thanks Best Wishes, Sherry Landa (Salford, Lancs) [email protected] -----Original Message----- From: Dave Jassie [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 12 May 2001 13:33 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [THEATRE-UK] Playwrights Hi Sherry, I think you may be in the ideal place.
