    1. [THEATRE-UK] BLACKPOOL .. THOSE WONDERFUL SHOWS
    2. Walter & Marjorie Holmes
    3. Hello all Wonderful memories are surfacing. Blackpool still attracts the hundreds of thousands every year. Some of the early shows I remember as a girl were .. 'Old Mother Riley' Arthur Lucan and Kitty McShane .. Tessie O'Shea .. Jimmy Jewel and Ben Warris .. they appeared with Tess in a show called HAWAIAN SCANDALS. George Formby in pantomime .. Sandy Powell .. Wee Georgie Woods .. so many others and many of the dance bands. Could any one give the words of the song sung by two ladies who appeared in Michael Barrymore's show just a few years ago. It was called 'The Blackpool Trams'. I grew up in Cleveleys and how I remember those trams in the holiday season. Full up with sunburned visitors and we would have to wait for at least four trams before one would stop with room for us. But the Blackpool shows were marvellous. Palace Varieties, New Opera House, Feldmans, the Piers, Icecapades at the Pleasure Beach. Plenty of memories .. Marjorie in New Zealand

    3. Hi Marjorie, Adrienne here, I replied earlier to one of your messages re the Tower Circus. You have the same name as my grandmother had and work at the department store "Hills" well here is another coincidence I was born in Thornton and lived in Cleveleys were my family still live!!!!! Sorry the memories you have of Blackpool are too early for me, but will pass them on to my mum to see if she has many from the 1940's and 50's. She lived in Blackpool. The trams are still going strong from Fleetwood through to Lytham St. Annes and they are still busy especially at Illumination time. The Ice show is still going strong at the Pleasure Beach and is still a spectacular show. 3. Hi Walter and Marjorie Those two "ladies" as you call them on Michael Barrymore's show I think you are referring too were "men" and called HINGE AND BRACKET who sang "The Blackpool Tram song". See my other E mail on the list regarding the "Palace" Regards Adrienne ----- Original Message ----- From: Walter & Marjorie Holmes <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, May 31, 2001 12:27 PM Subject: [THEATRE-UK] BLACKPOOL ..
