The above great actress's site (or one of them) is http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Heights/8828/cooper.html Dame Gladys Cooper was born just about a mile from where I live...... Maybe the one you are seeking was her mother? Hello Carrie, Just a silly bit of info for you - in our family if my sister or I were being a bit "above ourselves" my mother used to refer to us as "Gladys Cooper". Gladys was a very great lady of the theatre and a famous beauty. My father played the clarinet in the orchestra pit at the Lyceum Theatre in Sheffield for over thirty years. He met my mother whilst playing in the orchestra in a cinema in Chesterfield where she was the cashier. It is often believed that during the silent movie era a piano accompanied the film, but many cinemas also had orchestras. Good luck with your research. K http://willgooseweb.accessgenealogy.com
