    1. [THEATRE-UK] LASCELLES girls
    2. Ruth
    3. Hello, This is my first message to the list. I've been reading the archive, and you sound a lovely lot of people. I have been researching my family history for several years with some success, apart from my theatrical relatives who - darn! - didn't keep cuttings books or anything that would be useful to an inquisitive creature like me. My Grandfather's first family of girls all trod the boards in one way or another, and most of their offspring followed suit. (I'm merely a show off who followed our side into teaching!) I'd be very grateful if some kind soul could find any references to the LASCELLES surname from the early 1900's onwards. My Grandfather apparently used to sing with his daughter as 'Mr. Lascelles and his little girl at the piano'. His oldest daughter Leonie was a child prodigy on the piano, and even studied in Germany in the years before WWI. His next 2 daughters Felice and Vera, acted, sang and danced from the 1910's until the 1940's. Felice was in ENSA during the war. Felice was married to another actor called George NEIL. Any sightings of him gratefully accepted! That's quite a list for a first message. I'll now go away, cross my fingers, and wait hopefully... Regards, Ruth in Brum.

    1. [THEATRE-UK] ADMINISTRATION - was Fisher Tony
    2. Dave Jassie
    3. Hi folks, Oh dear!!! We seem to be having our first little tiff. I'm putting my serious face and voice on now, so watch out!! Now, my two-penneth on this subject ~ * It is always preferable to change the subject line of your e-mail to something resembling the topic you are posting about. * There is *no* copyright on your 'Subject' line, so don't get shirty if someone else uses it for another subject. * If you wish to make a point such as Christine did - send it to me *privately* and I'll deal with it. * Be nice - you might just find that folk will be more willing to help if you are. Best wishes, Dave Jassie - dave.jassie@ntlworld.com (List Administrator) Theatre-UK website - http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jassie/theatre/ Proud to be part of the FreeCen Project http://freecen.rootsweb.com/

    1. [THEATRE-UK] Lillian Edwards
    2. Tony Comer
    3. Miss Lillian Edwards was the stage name of Mrs Lily Campbell (aka Mrs Lily Rogers), a performer on the music hall stage who was named in my grandfather's will (I suspect because he was living with her after leaving his wife). She would have been performing in the 20s and 30s. Has anyone heard of her? Tony -- Paciencia y barajar

    3. Hi. Here is another link that may be useful. http://library.kent.ac.uk/library/special/html/specoll/theindex.htm Go to 'backstage' to search i.e 'use keywords' search 'opera' I tried the personal name search ' Roselys Coke-Richards' it didn't come up with anything. But it does not mean info on her is not there. I used the keyword 'opera' lots of records came up. Maybe there may be something there? You can also use this link to search http://theatremuseum.vam.ac.uk/index.htm I am unsure if using search in this will come up with something different? The 1st link tells you where collections/info is stored, i.e Theatre Museum. Sorry cannot be more helpful than that. Good Luck. Kind regards. 1. [THEATRE-UK] ADMIN - Invitation
    2. Dave Jassie
    3. Hi folks, The 'Invitation' is to a Yahoo Group dedicated to the discussion of Maybrick being a possible suspect as 'Jack the Ripper' It covers other subjects from the Victorian era and there are a couple of references to the Music Hall, other than that, I can't see any connection to the theatre or entertainment business. The author of the e-mail omitted to include a link to the site, so I can understand the confusion. Now, all my lovely regulars know what a wonderfully nice guy I am (look, somebody's got to blow my trumpet (:-)) but I do like to be asked for permission to post such 'adverts' for anything that might be "just ever so slightly nothing to do with the theatre" but, sadly, this hasn't happened in this case. If anyone is interested in joining the Yahoo group, then please contact Anne privately.
