    3. New and good start. 8 subscribers total right now. Now here's the problem I have. I used WordPerfect to make a new list of cemetery burials and saved as .txt (in ASCII) Here is what I recorded. RIDDERS, Bertha .. ... 1848 .. ... 1907 wife of George When I opened up in Textpad (same problem also showed up in my html software, too!), this is what I get: RIDDERS, Bertha .. ... 1848 .. ... 1907 wife of George Geez! 3. David, Although I usually convert from spreadsheets, the two following tips should help no matter what software you are conventing from. 1) Set the font in the both software applications to Courier-New 10point 2) Set TextPad so that it converts tabs to spaces. How you accomplish these tips in TextPad depends on the version of TextPad that you have. For VERSION 4 of TextPad: Start TextPad Click Configure on the menu-bar. Click Preferences on the drop-down list. On the left-side of the Preferences dialog-box, click the "+" next to Document-Classes to expand it's list. click the "+" next to Text to expand it's list. click on Tabulation (or Tabs) under Text to select it - - and the right side changes. On the right side, click to place check-marks in the boxes for Convert new tabs to spaces, and Convert existing tabs to spaces when saving files. On the right side, change the "Default tab spacing:" and "Indent size:" to 4 Click on Font under Text to select it - - and the right side changes. On the right side, make the following changes: Scope: Both Font: Courier New Font Style: Regular Size: 10 On the left-side of the Preferences dialog-box, under Document Classes: click the "+" next to Default to expand it's list. Make the same Tabulation and Font changes that you just made for Text. Connie -----Original Message----- From: W.
