In fact, he was an uncle of the Joshua who founded the brewery, being a brother of William Tetley (1749-1834). Samuel Laverack Tetley died later that year (1783). She was a daughter of Mathew (1785-1811) a Tong woolstapler, and his wife Mary Ann Topham. Matthew was a son of James Tetley, but which James.....?
