Hi folks, I've just been transcribing some of Dianes' father's notes, and thought I'd post them to the list as I go along. So, in no particular order, just as I come to them. Memorials from Holy Trinity, Low Moor. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In loving memory of Francis the beloved wife of Samuel Tetley. Born 14 April 1835 - Died 4 April 1905. Samuel Tetley Born 10 Mar 1831 Died 17 July 1914. At rest. Thy Will be done. [RFT- This is Samuel, the brother of Thomas Naylor Tetley] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [RFT - Not in the same grave as the above] Also Elizabeth dau of James & Mary Sharp of Manningham who died 8 Dec 1853 age 7 months. Mary mother of above died 21 April 1855 aged 27 years. Also Elizabeth 2nd wife of the above named James Sharp died 11 1858 age 24 years. James Sharp 4 Sep 1893 age 61 years. [RFT - I'm not sure where these folk fit in the Tetley tree at the moment] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Also of Anthony Thornton who died 15 Nov 1906 age 66 yrs. Also of Alice the beloved wife of Anthony Thornton d 30 may 1924 in his 82 year. [RFT - This is Alice Tetley, brother of Thomas Naylor Tetley] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Maria eldest dau of Thomas & Sarah Wroe and wife of Joseph Tempest of Wibsey who died Sep 14th 1843 aged 62. Joseph Tempest died 15 feb 1848 69 years. [RFT - I'm not sure where these folk fit in the Tetley tree at the moment] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >From Bierley Parish Church Graveyard, Bradford In memory of Maria, the wife of Samuel Tetley, of Bradford, who died 2 Feb 1842 in her 61st year. Also of Ann Bowler Tetley daughter of the above, who died 26 Mar 1837 aged 3 years, and was interred at the Parish Church Bradford. Also of Abraham, son of the above, who died 4 June 1849, aged 2 years. Also of John, son of the above, who died 4 Jun 1852 aged 3 years.Also of Emma, who died April 15th 1856 aged 2 years. Also of Mary Walmsley, daughter of the above who died 30 Mar 1866 aged 28 years. Also of the above named Samuel Tetley, who died 8 Feb 1884 in his 73rd year. [RFT - from other sources, I believe that Maria died in 1872, not 1842. The rest is spot on.] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >From St John's Graveyard, Bowling Parish, Bradford In loving memory of Henry Tetley of Sticker Lane, Bowling, who died 5 June aged 58 years. Also Ellen Tetley, wife of the above, who died 5 May 1895 aged 75 years. her end was peace. It is Christ that justifies. J A Pilling owner [RFT- Henry actually died about 1883. ] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sacred to the memory of Mary Ramsbottom, wife of James Ramsbottom of Quarry Gap in the township of Pudsey, who departed this life July 2nd 1843 in the 66th year of her age. Also the above James Ramsbottom who departed this life Dec 9th 1847 in the 73rd year of his age. Also Mary Tetlow, daughter of James & Sarah Tetlow of Quarry Gap, and granddaughter of the above who died 22 Mar 1850 aged 6 years. Also of Harry son of Abraham and Elizabeth Roper of Quarry Gap & grandson of above named James & Sarah Tetlow who died 29 Mar 1859 aged 3 months. Also in affectionate remembrance of Susannah Fanny, dau of Joseph & sarah Ann Greening, and granddaughter of the above named James & Sarah Tetlow who died March 25th 1870 aged 11 months. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Devon Pub D Vol 10 James Tetley MD FRCP was born at Bradford, Yorkshire on 11 July 1810. Educated at the University of Edinburgh, where he graduated in 1834. His health failing, he was ordered to the south of England, and coming to Torquay, so far recovered as to be able to practise about the year 1838 and continue the duties of his profession till within the last two years of his life. By his skill as a physician, by his kindly & gentle manner, he soon won for himself the respect and esteem of all with whom he came into contact, and for many years occupied a leading position as a consultant. A contributor to charitable institutions, a member of Torquay Natural History Society. He died at his residence, Belmont, Torre on Sep 18 1877 and was interred at the churchyard Tor, Torquay, his funeral being attended by all grades of society including almost all his local medical brethren. [RFT That's just enough clues to link him as the son of the William & Elizabeth Tetley, who parented the William T. who married Mary Ann Dresser and whose son Joseph Dresser Tetley went to New Zealand and later Argentina ...... Isabella Quayle, 25 Thomas Quayle, 5 Isabella Quayle, 2 Jemima Quayle, 10m Elizabeth Kelly, servant [RFT - Help!
