Hi Folks, I've been working on the Doncaster Tetleys who emigrated to Australia. In the course of that, I checked the 1901 census entry for these folk. They were living at 4 Cherry Lane, Doncaster, in only two rooms. There was James Tetley, aged 23, born Lincoln, a coal agents drayman. Jessie, aged 20, born Doncaster, Yorks Dinah, aged 4m, dau, born Doncaster Elizabeth, aged 4, dau, born Doncaster Nellie Murphy, visitor aged 15, born Doncaster. Now, Elizabeth would seem to be unlikely to be Jessie's child, unless Jessie was 16 when she was born. However, I think it is possible that Elizabeth is the same person as Gertrude Elizabeth, who died aged 6 and is buried with her grandfather, Robert Tetley (1848-1906) in plot I 106 of Doncaster's Hyde Park cemetery. Maybe Gertrude Elizabeth is the female child who died in infancy, listed on the tree that came from Australuia recently. It might be interesting to get a copy of her birth certificate. I can't find a marriage between James & Jessie on the current version of the freebmd website, but that may be just because the relevant page hasn't been transcribed yet! There is a marriage for Jessie Elizabeth Womack marrying in Shoreditch, in 1895, but there is no spouse named James T on the same page. I assume that this is not the same Jessie.
