    1. Probate 1900
    2. Richard Tetley
    3. Hi Folks, The following were extracted from the probate records at Nottingham Archive. I've transcribed them, just about as they appear in the records, but if you spot any errors, or there are any queries, please let me know. I've added some notes, where I can add anything to the stated information. 1900 ----- Tetley Elizabeth of St Catherine’s Home, St Mary’s Rd, Bradford, spinster, died 16 Jul 1900, probate Wakefield 8 Oct to John Hall, warehouseman & Thomas Sagar, insurance agent, effects £82-19-8. [ I suspect that this is Elizabeth (Betty) Tetley (1834-1900) a daughter of Joshua Tetley & Martha (nee Atkinson) of Heaton.] Tetley Henry, of Bridge Hewick, Ripon, died 11 Mar 1900, probate Wakefield 7 Jun to William Ernest Tetley, solicitor, & John Russell Willans, woollen manufacturer, effects £7139-10-9 [ I reckon that this is Henry Tetley (1832-1900), farmer, and husband of Ann Caroline (nee Rob). William Ernest T would be his eldest son. Henry was the youngest son of William Tetley and Mary Ann (nee Dresser). He was a brother to the Joseph Dresser Tetley, of New Zealand scandal fame. The Willans connection is possibly through Henry's sister Elizabeth who married an O. Willans. You may recall that Henry was found drowned in the river Ure, about 300 yards from his house.] Tetley John of 17 Church St, Morley, died 16 Dec 1899 probate London 27 Mar to Frances Mary Tetley, spinster, William Marshall Tetley, power loom tuner, & Albert Edward Tetley, furrier’s assistant, effect £1026-11-5. [Most certainly, John Tetley (1820-1899), a tailor, and son of Samuel Tetley & Mary (nee Marshall). Frances, William & Albert are three of his children] Tetley John Edward, of Woodville Priory, Honor Oak Rise, Camberwell, Surrey, and of 21 Mincing Lane, London, died 26 Apr 1900 at Woodville Priory, probate London 9th Jun to Alice Mary Spicer Tetley, widow, & George Feaner Peat Dean, publisher, effects £5021-8-6. [John Edward Tetley (1843-1900), a tea merchant, was a son of Edward Tetley (1815-?) one of the founders of the Tetley Tea empire. John & Alice had 2 daughters. Maybe one of those married George Dean.] Tetley Joseph of Broadwater House, Framlingham, Suffolk, esquire, died 27 Dec 1899, probate London 30 mar to Joseph Tetley, tea merchant, & Thomas George Bishop, merchant, effects £36936-2-5. [Coincidentally, this is the other brother who founded the Tea empire, and uncle to John Edward Tetley, above. The Joseph T, to whom probate was granted, is likely to be his son. I don't know who Thomas Bishop was.] Tetley Sarah Elizabeth, 91 Osmaston Rd, Derby, spinster, died 8 Jan 1900, administration (with will) Derby 27 feb to Thomas Tetley, gentleman, effects £975-0-6. [I think this was Sarah Elizabeth Tetley (1857-1900), the daughter of the Thomas Tetley to whom probate was granted. Thomas was another tea dealer, but as far as I know, not associated with the brothers Joseph & Edward.] Regards Richard (in Nottingham)
