Hi Folks, A friend sent this information to me recently:- James Tetley Briggs b. May 9, 1852 England, d. Sept. 10, 1922 in Vancouver. Father: Luke Briggs b. England Mother: Susan Breakley b. England He was in the province of B.C. for 10 yrs., in Canada for 10 yrs. James was a retired carpenter. Residence was 5665 McKinnon St., South Vancouver B.C. Informant was his wife, Mrs. H. Briggs. The only remotely likely possibility, in my data, is a Lydia Tetley (from Nottingham) who married a John Briggs in 1856. The only way that I can see this fitting in, is if John Tetley Briggs was an illegitimate son of Lydia's, who took the surname Briggs when his mother married. None of that fits in with the parents listed, though. So that possibility is probably fanciful, unless Luke & Susan are inventions! If anyone has any knowledge of this chap, or suggestions as to the reason for his middle name being TETLEY, I'd be most interested. Cheers Rich (in Nottingham)
