Hi folks, Another discussion that I've been having off-list, relates to Joseph Tetley, who married Elizabeth Sugden in April 1828 at Bradford. The problem is, that I don't know who Joseph's parents were! For some reason, presumably business, Joseph, and family, went to live in Norwich. Some of their children were baptised in both Bradford and Norwich. They seem to have had 7 or possibly 8 children, although only two of them seem to have survived beyond 1841. I wonder if the family were struck by some disease, in the late 1830s, because the father, Joseph, is also missing from the 1841 census, although Elizabeth is not described as a 'widow' until 1851. She was actually described as 'independent' in 1841, which probably describes here income status, rather than her marriage status. The children who survived, were Fanny (1832-) and Betsy Ellen (1833-). Fanny went on to marry David Goldthorpe Sugden, on the 11th May 1859, who, we believe, was a fairly close cousin. Fanny was David's third wife. Betsy didn't marry, and died in 1897 at Brighouse, which is where Fanny and David lived. So, we have a Joseph Tetley, who was born about 1807 or earlier, probably in or near Bradford, of unknown parentage, and who died before 1841, maybe in Norwich. Any more facts relating to Joseph, would be of great interest! Cheers Rich -- Born in Sheffield, but currently in Nottingham UK.
