    3. Hi folks, From a friend... Death notice in the Scotsman. The Scotsman 1850 March 27 Tetley, James recently medical student of Uni. of Edinburgh died at Asenby-Lodge, Yorkshire The date is the date of the newspaper carrying the death notice. The actual death date would usually be given + commonly the age too, but I don't index those for speed + to try to encourage people not to rely on the index. Sometimes there's also info on cause of death etc., but I don't index that for speed. Many of the deaths are Scottish but others - like this one - happened elsewhere. The Scotsman was published in Edinburgh which is probably why this notice was published in this paper. The wording suggests he didn't complete his degree, since he's not described as a doctor? The uni should have info about him anyway. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ James was actually 21 when he died. He was born in 1829, a son of William Tetley and Elizabeth Dresser, and therefore a sibling of Joseph Dresser Tetley of NZ scandal fame!
