Clara Emma Tetley was born in 1854, the daughter of Samuel and (his first wife) Catharine Tetley, and was a schoolmistress in 1881. She was a grandaughter of George Tetley and Grace (nee Greenwood). Maude was a daughter of Samuel and (his second wife) Catharine. So, she was a half-sister to Clara. They were both siblings of Henry Greenwood Tetley (of Courtaulds fame).
