Some info from a friend:- Information on Fr Francis Tetlow found in the Salford Diocesan Almanac, 1999. Born in Rochdale on 22 November 1913; ordained priest by Archbishop Waitz of Salsburg on 3 April 1938; served on the staff of St Bede's College (1942-60), as assistant priest at St Alphonsus, Brooks Bar (1960-61), as parish priest at St Michael's, Ancoats (1961-68), at St Dunstan's, Moston(1968-77), St John's, Padiham (1977-80), and at SS Peter & Paul, Barrowford (1980-90). He died on 23 July 1998. In discussion with Fr Frank several years ago, he told my informant that he studied for the priesthood at a seminary in Innsbruck, and after his ordination he was sent to University in England. He studied at either Oxford or Cambridge (can't remember which) and gained an MA. Cheers Rich -- Born in Sheffield, but currently in Nottingham UK. Hi folks, I turned this up on the A2A website today; Records of the Military Department Entry to the military, medical and nursing services of the East India Company's Army (1753-1861) and the Indian Army (1861-1940) World War 1 applications for Permanent Commissions in the Indian Army and for appointments to the Indian Army Reserve of Officers FILE - Applications for appointments to the India Army Reserve of Officers - ref. There are some unanswered questions here, because I can't place Sherwood J N Tetley (the apprentice). Presumably he's from the next generation. A friend has just sent me this reference:- found written in an old Prayer Book the following entry "Birthday of Charles Tetley on Thursday 10th day of March 1874 on which day he was 21 years of age and gave a large dinner party" the Prayer Book was owned by a John Carter who appears to have lived in the Lightcliffe area of Bradford I reckon that this is possibly Charles William Tetley (1853-1910) who married Emma Snare. Charles was the second son of Samuel (1808-1891) and Catherine Tetley. These were from the Greenwood-Tetleys line. I can't see another Charles Tetley of the right age. Hi Richard, I wonder if Susannah was the same as the Susey Wroe who married Samuel Tetley in 1810, and this is her father or brother handling her estate. That would imply that Samuel was deceased by 1834, as well. The 1901 census should keep some of use quiet for a while! I'm looking forward to that becoming available, so that I can resolve some issues on my mother's side of the family. It's a pity that it's going to cost money to extract the detailed information, but that's the way things are going, unfortunately. My best wishes for Christmas to everyone.
