    1. Tatley progress
    2. Hi there, I'm still reading all the emails regarding Tetley's in case there are any which might turn out to be a Tatley, or in case I have some of your Tetleys mis spelt. I dont suppose you are interested really but I have had a bit of luck with my lot. I had an email from a distant descendant of one of the branches of the tree in response to a query I posted on the internet and we swopped information. He gave me a couple of names I didnt have, and some photos which was a real bonus, and suddenly two small 'stray' family trees fitted in. It turned out that Ellis Tatley called himself Owen which didnt help. Isn't it nice when you get given some information on a plate for a change. Not too often though or it would spoil the interest. Good luck to all you fellow searchers. Regards, Copper.

    3. Hi folks, According to the information on the freeBMD website at http://www.freebmd.rootsweb.com Tetley, James Remington, married Greenland, Caroline Amelia at Kensington in the 2nd Quarter of 1883. I think that this provides a surname for Caroline that we didn't know. I'm unsure which James this is though! I think I have some crossed wires, with the James Rimington/Remington T's, because there's more than one of them! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'll personally catch up with the other Richard's enquiry, tomorrow, time permitting. It would be nice to hear from anyone else, who's made some progress with their research. 3. Hi Richard (In Yorkshire), Many thanks for the Calverley entries, some of which are new to me! For this one, I think you're right that Sarah was Luke's sister:- "Sarah TETLEY o.t.p spinster married Thomas CORLDS ?? on 28th March 1830 witnessed by Luke TETLEY & Ann CORLDS (page 158 number 473)" Sarah was born 1805 and baptised 1824. Luke (1806-1882) & Sarah's parents were John Tetley (1772-?) and Susannah Porritt, (if I've got my facts straight!) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This next one is a bit complicated. "John TETLEY (Wool Comber) o.t.p married Emma WHEATER o.t.p spinster on 2nd July 1832 witnessed by Henry TETLEY James WHEATER & Peter TETLEY (page 269 number 807) " (Your wrote:- "Richard, You have a Thomas COTT as being married to Emma WHEATER is this correct? or do you have two Emma WHEATER’S ?") Its the same Emma Wheater, I think. I believe that John died in 1836, and that Emma re-married, as Emma Tetley (widow) to Thomas Cott (or Gott). In the 1851 census Emma was shown as a widow. In the 1871 census, John & Emma's daughter Mary Tetley was shown as aged 33 , step-dau of Thomas Cott/Gott and his wife was Emma. This (below) is the same Emma in 1881 (I believe) but the identity of daughter Ellen is a bit of a mystery. She can't be John's daughter because he died in 1836 and Ellen was born in about 1848. Possibly she was a daughter of Thomas Gott, and should have been shown as as step-daughter of Emma's. If Ellen had been Emma's daughter, she would surely have shown up in the 1851 census, with Emma, before she married Thomas Gott. Maybe Emma never actually married Thomas Gott! More questions than answers, I fear!
