I think they are the same person. I was confused because she appears in the 1881 census with the name Hannah E Tetley, but in the 1891 census with the name Annie L Tetley. Most confusing! But, in the absence of any evidence to the contrary, we'll assume that both Hannah E, and Annie L, are really Ann Elizabeth! So, I've merged them, and deleted the spare one. 3. Hi Folks, I am persuaded by Helen, that James Tetley of Heaton, who fathered a son, James, in 1772, and the James Tetley of Manningham, who fathered a son, James in 1771, are two distinct, different, James Tetleys. The crux is that James Tetley of Manningham buried his son in 1772/3 (the date varies in different transcriptions). The one born in Heaton went on to marry Mary Milner. This splits up the children. The children born to the James, of Heaton, are; William 1770 and James 1772. The children born to the James, of Manningham, are James 1771 and Sarah 1775. And I thought I had that lot sussed! :-) Cheers Rich (in Notts) -- Born in Sheffield, but currently in Nottingham UK. 3. Hi Richard. Am I right in assuming that the two entries for Bingley All saints are for the reading of the Banns, and don't necessarily indicate that the marriage actually took place at Bingley All Saints? I note that only one party to the marriage is 'o.t.p.', so, presumably the other was not 'of this parish', and the marriage probably took place in the parish of the bride-to-be. Having said that, neither Sarah Tetley, nor Owen Addison Tetley, yet appear in my database, so we'll have to wait till they are 'claimed' by some other relatives, to associate them with their correct families. The actual marraige entry for John Thomas Tetley, is for the marriage of Bea's brother, of course. This is based on the baptism details of a probable daughter of Susannah's. Tong PR:- Martha Ann daughter of Edwin & Susannah TETLEY of Tong Street (Labourer) born 15th March 1875 baptized 4th June 1882 page 130 No 1034 Certainly Susannah (nee Haley) had a daughter of the right anme and age in the 1881 census, and was living in the Haley family home. However, Edwin was missing in 1881 (although Susannah was recorded as 'married'). It would seem that Edwin was already dead by 1901, but presumably only in the preceding three years, if they had a daughter aged 2 in the 1901 census. Incidentally, Christiana was 19 in 1881, so should be 39, not 59, in 1901. Its nice that she's living with Susannah, because it links the 1881 and 1901 census entries, nicely together. A further thought occurs to me;. Edwin and Susannah's first child, Martha Ann, died in 1898 aged 23. This could have been coincident with the birth of Bertha! I wonder if Martha Ann was actually Bertha's mother and died from childbirth complications? Certainly, Bertha would have been a late baby for Susannah! It might mean that Edwin's death could have been much earlier than 1897 or 1898. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > > Joseph TETLEY Head Married 57 years Wool Warehouseman Bradford 50 Holme Lane RG 13/4174 10 72 > Margaret TETLEY Wife Married 58 years > Bradford 50 Holme Lane RG 13/4174 10 72 > Abraham HOPKINSON Father-in-Law Widower 85 years Retired Warp Dresser Bradford 50 Holme Lane RG 13/4174 10 72 Joseph (1843-) was the son of Emmanuel Tetley and Grace (nee Collinson). The marriage entry shows that she was a widow, when she married Benjamin. There is an entry in Freebmd for the June quarter of 1881, for a marriage between Hannah Thornton, and George Tetley. I'm guessing that this is the marriage of this George and Hannah. > Arthur Tetley Head Married 30 years Life Insurance Agent Bradford 15 Vine Street RG 13/4174 11 93 > Ann e.
