According to family information, Bert and a friend were cabinet makers who heard there were high-paying opportunities in Australia. I do not have vital records for Bert, but his mother, Auguste Emelie Amalie Zilch, was born in 1878. There was contact between Bert and relations in Wisconsin during WWII, and perhaps as late as 1981. Family information also states his only son and only grandson were killed in a car accident on Christmas Eve, year not stated. His two grand daughters and their mother survived the accident.
