I am so excited that this list is up! I thought I'd post my direct line just to get things rolling. My earliest documented Templeton is: 1. Thomas Templeton (b. ca 1770 - d. ca 1810 in Russell Co (later Scott Co., VA)) married Mary Wigfield, d/o Benjamin Wigfield in Surry Co, NC in 1792. Thomas was probably of the Iredell Co Templeton's as I've found no documentation of any in Surry in this time frame. The land the Wigfield's owned in Surry was in the very southwest corner of the county adjacent/just above the north-east corner of Iredell Co. Thomas & Mary moved from NC to TN (where at least one son was born) to Russell Co, VA (later to become Scott Co, VA) by 1802 when they appear in tax lists there. 2. Thomas and Mary's son Amos (b. ca 1794 - d. ca 1844 in Scott Co, VA) married Polly/Mary Freeman, d/o Rev War vet William Freeman on July 20, 1825 in Scott County. 3. Amos and Mary's son William Farley (1825 - 30 March 1922, Scott Co, VA) married Frances (Fanny) Lane d/o Abraham Lane on 17 Dec 1845 in Scott Co, VA 4. William and Fanny's son James Elbert (6 Oct 1845 - Apr 20, 1922, Scott Co, VA) married Julia Queen Franklin, d/o James C. Franklin on Aug 3, 1870. Julia died early and James married secondly Sarah Alley. 5. James and Julia's son, Orban Fleetwood Templeton (July 7, 1883, Morgan Co, KY - May 21, 1963, Johnson City, TN) was my Grandfather. He married Emma Alley Pendleton in 1923. I'll get into assorted siblings with future posts. 2 of Amos' brothers, for example moved to Cedar Co, MO in the late 1850s and purchased public land out there. I'm looking forward to hearing from any cousins out there. Sincerely, Jack Templeton
