Has anybody else heard the tale that's in my family about the Templeton origins? 1. My grandmother said that the Templetons were descended from a Spanish sailor who was rescued from (or jumped ship) at the time of the Armada and landed at a place called Portin Cross, West Kilbride. That accounts for their (our) swarthy complexions and the dark hair many of the Templetons have. 2. The Templeton name I think came because they lived near a headquarters of the Knights Templar. It does seem to make sense that a Spaniard would adopt a name from around the place he lived, and also that he would probably not have a clan alleigance. Catherine --------------------
