    3. Harold, I notice from your message that you say your TEMPLETONs went from Ireland to Scotland. That I find interesting because I had assumed that the Irish TEMPLETONs were originally a Scottish family - not that it excludes movement the other way from time to time. My own TEMPLETON ancestors lived in Belfast, Ireland, and although I have names, I have little knowledge of what they did there. What I do know in some detail is that a branch went to India circa 1780. There is a strong possibility that your Irish TEMPLETONs are the same as mine, if names give a clue. It was Daniel TEMPLETON who went to India as a soldier and raised a family there. Matthew and John are also family names. My earliest TEMPLETON in Ireland is William born about 1730's amd he married a Margaret. Daniel, William and Matthew Steele were three of their children. I have no knowledge of an Adam TEMPLETON but my records do not go that far back. Please let me know if any of this relates to your family. And I would really like to discover when my TEMPLETONs left Scotland (assuming that is their origins).
