He was the son of John and Janet Templeton. He was married in 1872 and came to America in 1878. Four daughters and eight sons were born to this union, of this number, two sons have passed away, Dewey in childhood, and John,in manhood. The mother and widow has with the family, the sympathy of the community in the great loss sustained. For a number of years Mother Templeton has been greatly afflicted in body. Mr Templeton during the past 4 years has been in poor health and never seemed to regain his health since burned by gas in the mine. He was a member of the Redman Lodge and of the United Mine Workers of America. He was also a member of the Presbyterian Church, and with his family gathered around him and charged them to live right and be kind to mother since he must leave them. At the close of life he testified that he was ready to go and meet his maker. Early on Friday morning, November 25, 1910, his spirit left his body, and on Saturday morning all that was mortal was gently laid away in the silent tomb awaiting the summons of He who said " I am the Resurrection and the Life". Rev.W.M. Maxton, a former pastor, conducted the funeral, after which the Redmen took charge of the remains. Templeton, a highly respected lady of this city, passed away March 1, 1913, aged 58 years and 8 months. Funeral services were conducted March 2, by Rev. W.W. Edwards, at the Presbyterian church. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery.
