(The ball is in my court in other words). I have the original page from the Henry Lafayette Templeton bible record. A small note on the back in my dad's writing has it as a "family record" not a "bible record". Janel

    3. Harold, Sorry I am so long in responding to your request for input. My ISP was giving me trouble and I couldn't get on the net. (It's frightening.) I vote for the prepend of "Templeton." It makes filing easier for recipients who receive each message separately, rather than those of us who are signed up for the digest. Ignore the "reply all" vote. No offense meant to the person who requested this, but everyone signed up for the Templeton list gets a copy of every message sent. They either get the messages individually, or in the daily digest. A reply all is redundant and everyone on the list would receive two copies, not just the sender. 3. Dear List, I've had two requests now that would like to have "Templeton" as a prepend to the subject line. This means that if you send a message to the list with the subject line "Big Brown Dog" the list will receive it as "[Templeton] Big Brown Dog." What do you all think? Regarding the reply to the list, the vote so far is six to automatically reply to the list, one to leave it the way it is, and one said we should hit "reply all." I'm not sure how to count that last one. If we do the "reply all" button, the original message author will receive two copies of any responses: one to him or her directly and one via the list. -- Harold Templeton Hoffman Estates, IL cfp@iwc.net CT: Barnes, Geer, Horsford, Lamb, Merritt, Richardson. 1. Re: Reply TO List
    2. It would benefit me greatly to see all replies to the list, also. I am looking to see if my ancestor actually fits into TEMPLETON, TEMPLEN or TEMPLON. His name is Dudley TEMPLETON, and was even spelled TEMPLEN, TEMPELTON, and TEMPLON in the family bible. He was born Mar 11, 1817, possibly in Pennsylvania, Vermont or England. All of those locations were given by his children as his birth place in later documents. He died in 1863, in Altoona, PA, when his children were young. He married Esther SOULSBY, in Woodbury, Bedford Co., PA in 1838. This is the first location that I can place him. In all obituaries of Esther's family members, referring to Esther, they all give her married name as TEMPLETON. Therefore, I am trying to fit Dudley into the Templeton's. When his death was recorded in the family bible, his name was spelled TEMPLON. All descendants have taken the name TEMPLON. Judy Templon Alexander

    3. I think wherever possible we should hit the reply to all button, otherwise one may think the list all but deceased.I also think that peoples ancestors may not be linked at the moment but maybe later there might be a connection and i would like to keep the messages. 3. Good morning all, I've been wondering if setting up the list so that responses come back to the list would be helpful. As it is now, when you hit "reply," your response goes back to the individual who sent the message. If we switch all responses will come back to the list for everyone to read. I can see a benefit in this as someone may be interested in seeing a response to someone else's message. If the response goes back to the original author, someone interested in the subject will miss the response. On the other hand, you may feel like this will only fill up your mailbox with stuff you're really not interested in. And if you want your response to be private for some reason, you will have to either respond manually or hit "reply all" and remove the list from the recipients. What do you think? Shall we leave it the way it is now, or change it? I'll give everyone about a week to think it all over. By the way, I will interpret a lack of response as a vote to leave it the way it is. We currently have 60 subscribers, so fill up my mailbox! -- Harold Templeton Hoffman Estates, IL cfp@iwc.net CT: Barnes, Geer, Horsford, Lamb, Merritt, Richardson. KY: Shields. MA: Lamb, Merritt. 3. Dear Robert, There is an Andrew Templeton mentioned in "Historical Reg. of Officers of the Continental Army" by Francis Bernard Heitman. Washington, DC, 1914. (685p.): 536. I think the "536" is the page number you'll find him on. The indication is that he is from Georgia. Might not be your man, of course. Check with the FHC. They might have this book on microfilm. I have 22 Andrew Templetons in my database, but none from either GA or LA. -- Harold Templeton Hoffman Estates, IL cfp@iwc.net CT: Barnes, Geer, Horsford, Lamb, Merritt, Richardson. KY: Shields. The solution now is to click reply all and take out the individual's email and that could work in reverse. A discussion list should include everyone on MOST everything. Donna Parrish
