Here's another Absalom, last name spelled TEMPELTON. He was born about 1845 in MO, AFN KKPG-RS. Wife is Aliza Ann Carinder, so this is the same person (most likely) as Absolem born abt 1856 in MO, AFN KSGC-R5 in my last message. Obviously, there's something wrong with the dates, though. The listing for Absalom TEMPELTON shows his parents to be George Madison Tempelton and Jane, both born in Kentucky. -- Harold Templeton Hoffman Estates, IL cfp@iwc.net CT: Barnes, Geer, Horsford, Lamb, Merritt, Richardson. Dear Nancy, I have no connection to your Templeton's at the present time. I'm just grasping at threads. My Templetons originated in Ireland too. They appear to have lived in Whitehaven and later Carlisle, Cumberland. (England) I keep coming accross the name Hart in my research so thought I would get in contact with you. Hart surname links to an Errington family which I believe may be linked to an Erringtons/Templeton marriage in my family. I can't prove this yet. I havn't a clue where in Ireland, my Templeton's originated. I wondered if you had a Catherine married to Templeton in your research. The marriage was probably be in Ireland to Thomas Templeton. Even this is unsure. I only think her husband is Thomas because Thomas is in the same age bracket as Catherine. He was born about 1760 and died in Carlisle prison in 1829, his burial is listed in Upperby parish register. Catherine was born in Ireland in 1757-8 and died in Upperby, in 1858 at 100 years old. They are married into at least two of my Lawson family lines, Catherine's daughter Isabella Templeton was born in Ireland and according to the 1851 census, 1803, (but anywhere between 1796 and 1805. I think she lied about her age a few times) was my ggggrandmother and married John Lawson of Upperby . Another line (4th Great Grandparents) has Thomas Templeton born in Ireland in 1803 and married Jane Lawson of Upperby in 1831. I don't know if Catherine is Thomas's mother. There are a whole lot of them in Upperby who I can't find theitr links to my family although I am certain they are all related. There is also an Alexander and a Henry in the area who were also born in Ireland. They are probably Catherine's children but I have no proof until I find my irish origins. Usual names for the children of each family are Thomas, Catherine, Henry, John, Isabella, Alexander, William, Joseph, Elizabeth, Jane, Margaret, Ann, Nancy and Robert. There is also a poor little 17 year old Martha Templeton (born 1864 in Upperby) and her baby girl, Martha (born 1881) who were in Fusehill Workhouse (Botchergate, St. Cuthbert's Parish) in the 1881 census. I must look for her parents. All in all a proper muddle! Kind Regards, Carole Johnson, Washington, UK.
Do any of these Lancaster< PA Templeton family members sound familiar to anyone? I am having a real problem tracing them. What would be the best way to trace Andrew back to Ireland? Any suggestions for helpful books? Would Andrew have siblings who possibly went down south or could he have come over from Ireland alone? Andrew TEMPLETON married Rosanna (HART?) Andrew's will was probated in 1806 and mentions the prospect of a certain legacy coming from his father in Ireland. There six children were: 1. John m Margaret MOWRER Children of John and Margaret: Levi, Mary d.17Feb 1897, Julia, John, Catharine, Susan, Margaret, Christiana, and Benjamin 2. Marry 3. Betsy 4. Andrew 5. Sarrah 6. Dear Rick, I could not find a Martin Templeton in Virginia. There are four Templetons listed in the American Genealogical-Biographical Index: David (1770's), John (1740's), Robert (1750's), and William (1740's). I also have two other Martins in my database, one in NC and one in Ohio, but both were born in the 1800's. If you'd like more information about any of these, let me know. In the meantime, I've added him to my database in case I run across him somewhere else. -- Harold Templeton Hoffman Estates, IL cfp@iwc.net CT: Barnes, Geer, Horsford, Lamb, Merritt, Richardson. Hi all, I recently asked if you would prefer to have all replies go to the list. The vote was 11 to 2. If you hit "reply" to a message sent through this list, your response will go back to the list. The most common reason cited for this choice was that responses to other people's queries were often helpful, even if it doesn't appear that there is a direct link. If you would like to respond to someone privately, hit "reply all" and then delete the TEMPLETON-D or TEMPLETON-L@rootsweb.com address. The second suggestion was to have the subject line of each message changed to [Templeton], with the original subject appended. Five voted for this change and one was against. You'll see this change beginning with this message. It's impossible to please all the people all the time. I hope these small changes do not inconvenience anyone, but rather increases the value of this list to all. -- Harold Templeton Hoffman Estates, IL cfp@iwc.net CT: Barnes, Geer, Horsford, Lamb, Merritt, Richardson. Looking for information on a William Templeton and Margaret Murdock who had at least four children born between 1800 and 1812 in Kilmarnock, Ayr, Scotland. There was a William Templeton who married a Margaret Murdock in Forres, Moray, Scotland on 6 March 1794. Same couple? One of the children was William Templeton, born (or christianed) 9 May 1800 in Kilmarnock, Ayr, Scotland. Would love to find more information on him. Am hoping it is our William Templeton who married Joan Forrest in 1827 in Dalserf, Lanark. Mary and Don in Wyoming
