Hi, My first post to the list. James Knight, a Captain , sailing under Letters of Marquis, b. ca 1775 in Jersey Island or England married a Rachel ? and settled in NFLD. I believe Rachel's name was Temple for the name has been used in the next 5 generations in NFLD as either a first or middle name . A Colonel James Temple died at Elizabeth Castle on Jersey on 17 February 1680 so I know there was at least one family of Temples on the Island. I am also aware of a Temple family in early 1800's in NFLD. I am also aware of another line of Knight / Chevalier from Jersey that carried the Temple name into NH in the early 1700's.
