This message is in reply to Joannes recent message about pooling resources from different areas of the country. I would like to share with you my project, and maybe some of you would be interested in helping. My interest is in the federal census. I have collected indexes from various sources of all the Temples I could find. Even though some were missed, I do have a list of most Temples 1790 to 1860. I probably have about half of the 1870 and 1880 census and only a few of the 1900 to 1920 census. These indexes usually show the State, County, Town or Township and the page # where the person can be found on the census. Here is my plan. I have developed a form and have been taking the information from the rolls of microfilm at the library and entering the information into my Microsoft Excel files. I look up the page number and fill in the blanks. 1. From 1790 to 1840 I simply show the numbers 2. from 1850 to 1920 I show all family members and include most available information. 3. starting in 1870 a column exists which indicate a foreign born parent. This is important in locating new branches. My plan is to fill in the blanks, give each a reference number and try to identify each person. I think this will be a valuable resource for Temple researchers. Anyone interested? If so just E mail me and Ill answer any questions you may have. You can start sending anything you have in any form you desire. The recent post on the 1880 TX census was a good example of what Im looking for. Thanks. Ralph L. Temple
