Joanne, I believe the general thinking that all of the English Temples come from a common ancestry is, logically at least, inaccurate. It's my understanding that many Temples were so named after being orphaned and possibly left on the local church doorstep. If you look at the source of many English names they stem from an occupation or an area(of course, this could be said of most surname origins). The fact that the prominent English line is so well documented by Levi Temple, we rush to assume that this is the solution for all of us. Just another theory. I like your idea about going back to step 1 and listing our oldest ancestor/dead end. I'll send a separate note. Thanks for helping! Linda
